Seeing Places | Mitre Peak
It rained when we arrived and it rained when we left; 7000 mm of rain is falling there every year, 300 days of the year are wet. We came by bus from Queenstown because we did not want to cycle the only road to Milford Sound twice. The climb to the Homer tunnel is nothing special, but the tunnel is very dark inside. On the way back we camped at the Mavora Lakes and ended at the south side of the … lake. A tourist steamer is crossing daily; you can take the bike on the boat and have a nice ride back to Queenstown.
