India | Staying with the police

One of the alternatives if there’s no hotel available at the village is the police station. At this place we were even accompanied by a police officer to the local restaurant for a free meal, being “the guest of the government of India” as he stated. As foreigners we enjoyed even more privileges. While an Indian pilgrim who looked for a safe place for the night had to sleep outside in front of the police station we were invited to sleep in one of the offices.
