Thailand – Cycling Around The World

The Thai part of our 1987-1989 world tour.

Country of Buddhist temples and ancient royal cities. We cycled through the vast ruined cities of Ayuthaya, Sukothai and Lopburi. Not only the ancient royalty is interesting. We never visited a country where the royal family is so much honoured.

Even in the smallest village every day all traffic came to a halt when the national anthem can be heard in honour of the king.

All those golden Buddha’s, small and large, became as much part of our daily life as of the Thais. And we enjoyed a “holiday from our holiday” on one of those typically tropical islands: blue ocean and white beaches fringed with palm trees.
